Pallipuram Fort is one of the oldest European 
Monuments in India. It is located in North Vypin Island. Pallippuram. Fort was built in 1503 AD, by the Portuguese and considered as the first of this sort. The name is derived from English word “Palliport”. Pallippuram Fort was captured by the Dutch in 1661 AD and finally sold to the State of Travancore in 1789 AD. Pallippuram Fort is located approximately 25 k.m. from Ernakulam Town and you can reach here by road. The near by Catholic Church is an imp, ortant Pilgrim Centre of Christians.
