Cherai Beach Festival or Cherai Beach Carnival is organized by Pallipuram grama panchayat of the Vypeen Island. This festival of tourism is organized to encourage tourists to share the feel of Kerala beaches and its cultural heritage. Cherai is one of the most popular beaches in central Kerala. Tourists visit Kochi can easily reach Chwerai by road. The Cherai beach tourism Mela – Cherai Beach Festival is celebrated during first week of the new year. The programs include chendamelam (Drums), karimarunnu prayogam (fire works), pattom parathal (kite flying) etc.The Cherai beach tourism Mela – Cherai Beach Festival is organized in support with KTDC – Kerala Tourism Development Council.
